Cableguys has released Shaperbox 3, a plugin that contains up to 9 different LFO-based effects (shapers), each of which can be edited individually. Shaperbox 3 allows you to chain any of these shapers together in any desired order, opening the door to creating some unique advanced movement patterns to any sound.

Nine Shapers

New to Shaperbox 3 is the Liquid Shaper, which is kind of a mixture of a flanger and a phaser.
Besides the Liquid Shaper, Shaperbox 3 includes Time Shaper, Drive Shaper, Noise Shaper, Filter Shaper, Crush Shaper, Volume Shaper, Pan Shaper, and Width Shaper.

LFO shapes

All Shaperbox effects are LFO-driven. With Shaperbox 3, editing the LFO waveforms has been made even easier than it already had been. We can basically create any shape we like with just a few clicks. Furthermore, the LFOs can be triggered either by syncing to the tempo of your DAW, by using midi, or by using audio triggering.

Audio Triggering

Audio triggering was first introduced to Kickstart 2, a plugin released by Cableguys in collaboration with DJ/Producer Nicky Romero, and is now also available in Shaperbox 3. This feature will restart any of the LFO-driven effects based on audio it detects coming from any audio source you feed into the sidechain input of Shaperbox 3.

New Browser

Another eye-catching new feature in Shaperbox 3 is the improved browser. The browser lets you browse tons of presets, which can be very inspirational. Of course, we can still edit these presets to our liking and we can also save our own presets. 

Conclusion

In conclusion, Shaperbox 3 is a very powerful tool for any mixing engineer. It is perfect for adding movement to your sound. It has virtually unlimited options. Version 3 comes with some very nice improvements to the previous versions. All in all, Shaperbox 3 definitely deserves a recommendation.
